We were excited – our first invitation to a coffee shop as bloggers! We were keen to accept the invitation as Bold Coffee uses Cleanskin Coffee Company beans – yey! In fact, Bold uses the same milk as Cleanskin as well as the much lauded La Marzocca. We organised an early morning trip to Bald Hills to sample the coffee and the experience. Bold Coffee is located on Gympie Rd in the original and quaint Bald Hills village. The Bold website appears to be under construction – so keep an eye out.

Inside Bold Coffee, Bald HillsThe shop has quaint feel. As soon as we walked in, we spotted that only one hopper had coffee beans. Alas, no single origin was on offer. The disappointment was lessened, somewhat, by the delight of jumping on the seating of padded coffee sacks!

The Saint blend was brewed as double shots for our long black, flat white and mocha. The cups were well presented and offered a robust coffee taste. There is no doubt the Maleny milk provides a rich white coffee which we enjoyed. The long black found wanting and we suspect that the Saint blend is not meant for black. We found it interesting that the barista hadn’t been to Cleanskin, a couple of suburbs away – they know how to deliver consistently great coffees and there may be some benefits in shared knowledge and skill.

Justin and Sarah Bold have been providing the locals at Bald Hills a great coffee alternative for the last 8 months. With a food license in the pipeline, soon you will be able to enjoy breakfast with your coffee. Bold provides a suburban coffee option with a non-mainstream coffee.

We give it 6 ‘bold’ beans!
