We’ve often felt like some coffee venues in the city are like an oasis from the hustle and bustle and Coffee Iconic in the Brisbane CBD fits the bill perfectly. The tree-filled garden is a perfect place to extract yourself from the rat race and savour beautifully extracted coffees in the great outdoors. A rare treat in any capital city!
It’s like a coffee picnic in the park. In the picnic hamper are coffees from Roastworks and The Elevation (NSW) and the Vintage Coffee Project (QLD). You can have your own State of Origin coffee debate as you sample. If you’re not sure where to start, ask the staff for some tips. Whatever coffee you’re into, there is sure to be one that suits your picnic!
We had to go for Queensland first! A piccolo on the Vintage Coffee Project blend had a subtle berry flavour that reminded us of a coffee we first tasted many years ago. If you’re a fan of the infamous Purple Haze, you’ll be fond of this coffee. You’ll not only see maroon, you’ll taste it!
What have the cockroaches got to offer? The batch brew was gurgling away so it was time to taste an Ethiopian (washed and natural) from The Elevation. The steam was rising off the cups as we imbibed the aroma on the cold winter morning. Someone put a fruit salad in the hamper … the washed Ethiopian cooled to highlight citrus notes and the natural gave us a hint of strawberry. The maroon hue was certainly evident at our coffee picnic!
Who won the state of origin? For us, it was short black and short macch in the departure lounge on the Vintage! Queenslander, Queenslander! When planning your next coffee picnic, pencil in Coffee Iconic in the Brisbane CBD and enjoy.
