Our day was truly made when Day Made at the Gabba was launched by Coffee Supreme. To say we were crestfallen when the Woolloongabba Social Club shut its roller door is an understatement! The glow of the most photographed neon sign in Brisbane coffee gave us a glimmer of hope that melancholy would soon manifest into merriment.
We followed progress of fit-out and opening on social media. Then on the first Saturday of opening week we got to witness the Make My Day neon in person as we joined Sacha and the crew for our Mystery Coffee Tour. We weren’t disappointed and our melancholy soon melted away.
The long central table is a great place for a group to savour coffee and chat about the important things in life. The beautiful flower centre-piece is always stunning! In some ways it transports us back to sitting at the bar at the social club and enjoying delightful, locally roasted coffee. At Day Made, we’re always greeted with positive vibes and informed coffee recommendations.
Whether you like your coffee black or white, hot or cold, filtered or extracted, you won’t be disappointed with your cup at Day Made. The preparation, presentation and palate-pleasure of your coffee are always on point! The ice block and the message at the bottom of the cup are a real highlight of the cold coffee option.
On our first few visits, the Hondurans were a common origin available for drinking. The Yire (year-eh) was a standout as a filter and prompted us to lean toward more Hondurans when on offer. The real reason it was a joy to drink is because we savoured the first batch roasted by Coffee Supreme in Brisbane a few years ago.
So if you’re ever near the city or on the South side … go ahead – make your day – and head to Day Made at the Gabba!
