Bean Brewding’s Flavour of the Month for October, or more affectionately known as our Flavourites, include:
We have made several visits this month to Coffee Anthology while organising the recent Coffee Tour. Adam keeps serving up specialty coffee from Melbourne coffee roasters. Dukes coffee Ethiopian Aricha and Guatemalan El Pilar were tasting particularly good prepared with a V60. Pouring out of the La Marzocco Strada EP was Knuckles Up blend from Cartel Coffee Roasters. Coffee Anthology is our flavourite because there is always something new and noteworthy.
Ltd Espresso + Brew Bar
When we were preparing our visit to the Qld Barista Champs, there was a unanimous meeting point: LTD Espresso. Luke is always a buoyant conversationalist with a new twist on extending the coffee experience. The slammer is the latest … a shot of espresso added to the chilled bottled iced coffee. We went hot all the way with a delightful Mexican from Cleanskin prepared with a syphon brewer. Sitting at the bar, sipping syphons and chatting about Luke’s unique A-Frames had us well-primed for the championships.
In the spirit of the Barista Champs, it seemed only fair that a visit with Tilly at Lamkin Lane was appropriate. She came second and it was wonderful to gain a first hand insight into the championships. We chatted about the single origins on offer and one bean could hardly refuse her suggestion to try both the El Salvador and Kenyan. They were delightfully prepared and extracted by the silver medallist … the peach notes in the El Salvador were a highlight. If you ever head to the Sunny Coast, make an effort to find Lamkin Lane Espresso!
