There are always coffee shops popping up in Brisbane. This trend is also happening in the coffee roasting space as well. We’re always on the lookout for new places, particularly where the coffee on offer is roasted in-house … or by someone in the house! Here’s a couple of roasters we’ve frequented in the last little while.
Delamauta Coffee – Wellington Point
After a hard morning of stand-up paddle boarding at Wellington Point, we were in dire need of a coffee. Then the distinctive waft of coffee roasting filled our nostrils. It led to Delamauta Coffee and the welcome sight of Dan roasting away. What a delight! The aroma, the coffee and the vibe provided a relaxed drinking experience. Every time we’ve been, there has been different single origin choices on offer. If you’re heading to the bayside, put this on your list of things to do! It’d be a great place for a coffee tour 😉
Republic Coffee Traders – East Brisbane
Tucked away in East Brisbane, Republic Coffee Traders provides a cool vibe, great food and tasty coffee roasted off-site at Supreme Coffee Roasters at Yatala. We had a great chat about the blend and the joy of coffee roasting. We even got a sample to take home and test drive on a household espresso machine. We enjoyed the blend as a long black, with and without, hot milk on our visits. As the summer heat begins to ramp up, you can try the blend as a cold brew or iced latte.
First Fruits Coffee – Ashmore
We first tried beans from First Fruit Coffee long, long ago when Rays Gone Beans was seeking out coffee from different roasters and gave us a bag of their Big Dawg. When we heard they had opened a cafe at Ashmore, we had to swing by. We were keen to enjoy their coffee among the green beans and roaster. An Ethiopian Cup of Excellence was on offer and came highly recommended. Wow! Super tasty … the visit may have been short but the sweet fruity aftertaste stayed with us all the way up the Pacific Highway.
